Why MV-1 is the best option for disabled transportation
Exclusive Comfort
Typically, converted vehicles for accessibility seat the wheelchair passenger in the back of the car or in the middle. However, the designers of the MV-1 believe the back of the vehicle is for luggage, not passengers.
The MV-1 has plenty of room for wheelchairs and scooters to maneuver inside the vehicle and seat the wheelchair passenger in the front forward position, next to the driver. The MV-1 can seat one wheelchair or scooter comfortably plus 3 additional passengers. There is plenty of room for all passengers to ride safely and securely, while still having lots of space for suitcases in the trunk.
Superior Safety
Traditionally, the options for wheelchair accessible transportation needed an existing vehicle to be modified or converted. These modifications require the car’s suspension to be raised and the structural elements to be cut to lower the floor while maximizing head room; compromising the vehicle’s center of gravity, structural integrity and stability.
The MV-1 is universally designed and factory built specifically to be accessible for disabled passengers without any potentially unsafe issues that converted vehicles have. The MV-1 is the only accessible vehicle in North America that has been crash test and safety certified.
Built For Convenience
Alternative options for disability transportation include converted vehicles with rear entry or side entry where the passenger enters via a lift or ramp. Ramps and motorized lifts can both be very bulky and unsightly whether they are on the side or on the rear.
Passengers enter the MV-1 from the side by simply rolling up a motorized ramp that is built into and stored inside of the floor so that it is hidden from view when not in use. When loading or unloading, the ramp extends out to match the height of the ground outside, whether it be street level or curb height.
